IPIX Releases Firmware Update for CommandView™ and InSight Cameras

VIENNA, Va. - March 10, 2005 - IPIX Corporation (Nasdaq: IPIX), a premium supplier of visual intelligence technologies, has announced today the release of its new Camera Firmware v1.4 to support its CommandView™ and InSight™ cameras. With v1.4, all CommandView™ cameras allow users to take advantage of IPIX's 360°, digital pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) right out of the box. As with all IPIX cameras, users have the ability to connect to the camera via any Web browser, and v1.4 provides a Java applet which will allows users to view the 360° spherical field of view using its patented immersive image technology without any specialized applications.

The firmware also provides on-camera lighting algorithms that automatically adjust brightness, gain and the shifting to black and white in response to changing light conditions, a key concern for outdoor cameras and indoor cameras affected by natural lighting. Up until now, camera set-up has involved pre-determining a number of parameters on the camera and returning to adjust these parameters as lighting conditions change.

The new algorithms provide a simplified set-up for the camera in most user situations and require the user to supply only one or two variable settings. The lighting algorithms have a proven performance in non-IR assisted environments down to 0.3 LUX. The firmware update also provides on-camera video blanking capability for setting up privacy zones. This feature has been designed to meet requirements regarding an individual's right to privacy and allows the user to define a virtually unlimited number of privacy zones.
