2.1. How do I buy the IPIX Interactive Studio?

An Activation for the Interactive Studio can be purchased from the IPIX Store. The price for Activating the Interactive Studio is based on four factors: the particular feature configuration that will be used, the period of time for which it will be Activated (the license term), the way in which it is Activated, and the licensing option required. 2.2. What feature configurations are available for the IPIX Interactive Studio?

The software configurations offered will include:

IPIX Interactive Studio Essentials Pack (Single User)

The IPIX Interactive Studio Essentials Pack includes everything you need to create stunning 360° photos using a fisheye lens. The software includes everything you need to create 1-, 2-, or 3-shot 360° photos. The IPIX Interactive Studio Essentials Pack includes a Single-User Annual Seat License. IPIX Interactive Studio Enhancer Pack (Single User)

The IPIX Interactive Studio Enhancer Pack includes is a major step up in across different Panoramic and 360° photo formats. In addition to all the features of the Essentials Pack, the Enhancer Pack includes support for a broad range of standard and proprietary image formats. The Enhancer Pack also includes integral editing tools that let you streamline your workflow and save time when you have a large number of 360° photos to create. The IPIX Interactive Studio Essentials Pack includes a Single-User Annual Seat License.

2.3. What are the options for the length of an Activation?

Currently, IPIX provides Activations with a one year term. The one year offers our best pricing value, considering unlimited usage and expected product updates and upgrades. Options other than a one year terms are possible. Please contact IPIX sales for further information.

2.4. What are the different ways to Activate the IPIX Interactive Studio software?

The IPIX Interactive Studio can be Activated in several ways. The way in which you Activate your IPIX Interactive Studio software will depend on how many photographers will use the software, and the licensing option that best fits your business. The possible ways to Activate your software include:

Node-Locked Activation

Node-Locked Activation enables the IPIX Interactive Studio software to be run on only one specific computer / CPU. Once the IPIX Interactive Studio software is downloaded onto a specific machine, it can be Activated through the IPIX online store. The Activation process will enable the Essentials or Enhancer level features to run on that specific machine.

Floating Activation

Floating Activation allows the software to move from one computer to another. There are two ways the Activation of the IPIX Interactive Studio can float. The first is on a LAN using a network license manager. The second is through the use of a USB dongle (Supported on Windows).

The Network License Manager allows anyone on a LAN to use the IPIX Interactive Studio, assuming they have the software loaded on their computer. The Network License Manager is Activated with the number of seats purchased. The Network License Manager keeps track of how many active users are using the software, allowing the IPIX Interactive Studio to run concurrently on computers, up to the number of seat licenses purchased.

The USB dongle provides an alternative method for Floating Activation. In this case, a single dongle represents a single Activation. A single seat of the IPIX Interactive Studio software can therefore float from computer to another by moving the dongle from one computer to the other.

2.5. What are the licensing options for the IPIX Interactive Studio?

Several license models are available, each based on an unlimited usage during a fixed period of time. License models options include:

Single-User License

The single-user license is for the individual photographer who will shoot and process his/her own images. The single-user license is typically Activated as a Node-Locked license. The features Activated in a Single-User License will depend on the feature pack purchased (Essentials or Enhancer).

Multi-User Site License

For companies / organizations that will directly employ two or more photographers at a single site, the Multi-User Site license enables the IPIX Interactive Studio software to be shared by those multiple photographers. This option is ideal for companies, small to large, that have an application requiring a one or more Camera Kits shared by multiple photographers for processing on one or more Activated computers. The Multi-User Site License can be shared internally on a Local Area Network (LAN) using a license manager, or by using a USB dongle. The features Activated in a Multi-User Site License will depend on the feature pack purchased (Essential or Enhancer). Very large organizations may purchase multiple Multi-User Site Licenses for geographically separated sites (Enterprise License) by contacting IPIX sales.

Photographer Network License

This License is for companies that directly manage a Full-Service Panoramic Photography Network. Call (518) 237-1975 or email sales for further information.

2.6. Can I evaluate the IPIX Interactive Studio before I buy it?

IPIX offers the Interactive Studio with an Evaluation Activation as a free download from the IPIX Store (store.ipix.com). Under the Evaluation License, you may load the software onto one computer and test out the features of the software. Use this to decide if you want to purchase the software. All features of the IPIX Interactive Studio Enhancer Pack are available for evaluation. Output images from the IPIX Interactive Studio are available in all supported file formats but containing watermarking that indicates the images are for evaluation use only. Upon completion of your Evaluation, you may purchase an Activation that will enable the full functionality of the purchased license, allowing for output on non-watermarked images.

2.7. What if I want to load my IPIX Interactive Studio software onto more than one computer? Is that allowed?

Yes. There are two ways to load onto more than one computer:

Buy multiple Single User licenses - OR - Purchase the Multi-User Site license.

2.8. Can I still use keys with the Interactive Studio?

The IPIX Interactive Studio does not support IPIX Image keys. The IPIX Interactive Studio allows an unlimited number of images to be created within the license term.

If you currently are using the IPIX 360 Suite or 360 Suite Pro and have keys either on your computer or banked in the IPIX online store, you can continue using those keys with that software. Please note that with the introduction of the IPIX Interactive Studio, we have announced the end-of-life of the IPIX 360 Suite software. Keys for the IPIX 360 Suite will be available for purchase until December 31, 2005.

2.9. What is your Technical Support policy?

IPIX Interactive Studio customers receive technical support for up to 2 incidents during the first 30 days after the purchase of their software.

2.10. What is the software update / upgrade policy for the IPIX Interactive Studio software?

The IPIX Interactive Studio is a major new release for IPIX and is considered a new product. Customers interested moving from the current IPIX 360 Suite software to the new IPIX Interactive Studio will need to purchase a new license.

For those who do purchase a new license to the IPIX Interactive Studio, from time-to-time, IPIX may make available bug fixes and select feature updates. These fixes and updates will be released at the discretion of IPIX.

For customers that renew their IPIX Interactive Studio license, upon renewal, they will be entitled to any IPIX Interactive Studio software bug fixes, updates, and upgrades.

2.11. What is the IPIX Interactive Studio software warranty?

Software is warranted to substantially conform to the published specification, as detailed in the software user manual. Software media is warranted and will be replaced if defective.

2.12. What is the IPIX Interactive Studio software return policy?

IPIX does not offer a money back guarantee on software. Customers should use the software in Evaluation License mode in order to decide whether or not to purchase the software. Please download, install, and use the Evaluation License version of the IPIX Interactive Studio before ordering and purchasing. Software orders can be cancelled only prior to Activation.

2.13. If I purchase (i.e. Activate) the IPIX Interactive Studio, when does the software term begin?

Your IPIX Interactive Studio annual term begins on purchase date of the software license.

2.14. What protections does my IPIX Interactive Studio software license provide me?

Purchase of a license to the IPIX Interactive Studio, or purchase of IPIX Image Keys for use in legacy IPIX tools ensures that you have the full protected rights to capture, produce, host, and deliver fisheye-based panoramic photography, under IPIX patents.

Additionally, purchase of a license to IPIX products also grants you rights and protections to Minds-Eye-View, Incs patents, to which IPIX Corporation is a non-exclusive licensee. As a licensee of IPIX products, you are indemnified from any claims by Minds-Eye-View, Inc.

2.15. What other software products can I use that will offer me a license to the IPIX patents?

None. IPIX Corporation has not granted a license to its fisheye imaging patents to any individual or corporation. The only way to assure full rights to IPIX patents is through the purchase of a software license directly from IPIX.

2.16. What is the relationship between IPIX and REALVIZ?

IPIX is the exclusive world-wide distributor of REALVIZ fisheye stitching extension. REALVIZ exclusively extended their product to support fisheye lenses for IPIX as a result of our business agreement. The product is available only from IPIX and is offered as an plug-in extension to the IPIX Interactive Studio V1.3.

REALVIZ offers other non-fisheye stitching products. If you purchase these other REALVIZ stitching products and use a fisheye dewarp preprocessor prior to stitching, you are not covered under a license to IPIX patents. It is through the purchase of an IPIX Interactive Studio license, optionally with REALVIZ fisheye stitcher extension for advanced fisheye photography modes, that you are licensed under IPIX patents.
