Technical Writer

Summary:

Provide technical writing support to the Research and Development group and other areas of the company as assigned


Responsibilities:

  • Technical writing of software development projects from initiation through development to completion.
  • Assist with the development of training documentation.
  • Support proposal efforts.
  • Edit other company documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Previous documentation experience for both end user & highly technical audiences.
  • Ability to deliver documentation suitable for enabling programming to utilize our software development kit without requiring excessive amounts of telephone support from our technical staff.
  • Ability to incorporate screen shots, buttons, step by step point and click instructions.
  • Interface with our internal SDK software developers.
  • Ability to deliver document in modular form depending on audience or end user.
  • Must have experience writing 300+ manuals from scratch.
  • Function as primary editor of all technical documents.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret complex scope, requirements, and design documents and communicate information for user audience.
  • Ability to work with project managers, developers, support personnel, and users to develop Programmers Guides documentation of software development systems.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a technical writer of programming guides is required.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of written material.
  • Supervise the distribution of completed materials to all designated parties.
  • Interact with subject matter experts, the departmental editor, the departmental production staff, and customers.
  • Use departmental tools, templates, and processes to ensure quality and consistency of deliverables, and timeliness of completion.
  • Strong research, analysis, and information design skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and graphics applications (such as Visio) required; Adobe FrameMaker desirable.
  • Ability to complete assignments on time and within the budget.
